Relaxing while feeding Little this morning, the phone rang and I leapt for it. We’re one of those prehistoric families that doesn’t have CallerId, so I picked it up, anxious to know who is calling me on a Saturday morning.
Of course, jumping for the phone jolted Little and she started screaming as she attempted to relatch. Upon answer, I heard a muffled reply. The dude kept talking and talking. I finally interrupted: “I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!!!”
Suddenly, it was clear (isn’t that amazing?): “Oh, sorry, this is Charlie from the Philadelphia Radio Network”… blah, blah, blah … “so which radio station have you listened to in the past week?” deep breath.
I look down at Little, who is making all sorts of noises while trying to relatch. “A little radio station called I don’t have time for this!” and I hung up the phone.
Still barely latched and crying, I carried Little over to the computer and pulled up the National Do Not Call Registry. Without pause I registered our cell phones and our home number, something I’ve been meaning to do for months, but just hadn’t gotten around to.
And, now that I’m sitting again, Little is finally latched back on and feeding nicely. And I won’t be interrupted again by any of those annoying surveys that I just don’t have time for.
