What a Small World in Social Media

My love of all things social, espeically Social Media, is well documented. Here's a story I wrote for Philly Moms Blog when I made a work-overnight camp connection. I went to a summer camp in Maine for 6 summers. My mom went there, about 25 years before me. And my sisters both went there. The camp was small, all girls. It maxed out at about 180 girls. I think  one year they went over at 183, but some years it was much smaller. Everyone knew everyone. There was a lot of love. But, you grow … [Read more...]

Last day to join Eversave and receive a $5 credit

I just learned of Eversave this week. Joined to learn more about it, and earned $5 credit, just for joining. Which I immediately flipped to use on Professional Organizing sessions. Eversave is a location-based savings website, one that changes its saves daily. Check out your city, and join to earn $5 credit towards a future save. Do it today, though, because tomorrow the joining credit goes back to $2 for signing up. Today's nationwide save:  $18 for $40 worth of eco-friendly water bottles … [Read more...]

2010 Recap

Jo-Lynne does this year-end carnival where she goes back through the year and highlights the first sentence of each month, then reflects. I like that so much more than a to 10 list of posts, because I just couldn't do a top 10 anything. I'm not good at decisions. (I think you know that already.) Its amazing that these twelve "randomly" selected posts are so represntative of my blog--because they. They're a mix of family, parenting and education. Wonder what next year will bring. January "He … [Read more...]

Mom Chic: You have to feel good to look good

A year ago, almost exactly, I made a pledge to myself: I would learn to take care of my skin. Its something I never learned growing up, but as time has passed, something I realized I needed to teach myself. Sure, I'd attended many a make-up/skin care house party. And visited more make-up counters than I care to count. But I never really learned to pick up a regime and follow it, religiously, to make it an affective part of my life. A big part of looking good, is feeling good. Your face is what … [Read more...]

Watch Your Webcam: Your Teacher May Be Watching

As we gear up on the end of 2010, I spent some time looking back at past posts from the year. Can't believe that this story happened just 10 months ago. (Originally posted February 2010, Philly Moms Blog) Last week, a family from Lower Merion School District filed a class action complaint against the school district alleging misuse of the tracking system installed on laptops given to the school district students. Briefly, the district is being accused of using a security tracking system to … [Read more...]

Early post-holiday favorite toys

While it may be a little soon to call these the best gifts of 2010, already I've noticed genuine interest in these gifts over others. At 7-years-old, Big has shared that his favorite gifts include the Spy Net: Rear View Glasses, Diary of a Wimpy Kid (which he has already completed and I am now ordering books 2-5), and Polaroid Digital Camera (note the price point of $54.99. We didn't break the bank on this one.) Additional favorites include CDs for his new CD player that he received for … [Read more...]
