For this week’s #VlogMoms question, Annie from Mama Dweeb asks: Tell us about your first job. Hear about my first day as a weekend receptionist at a busy real estate office when I was about 15 in my Vlog.
Have a story to tell from your first day on the job? Share it in the comments, or make a quick video and link up. Visit the other VlogMoms to hear their stories as linked below.

Sounds like your first job was very stressful! I worked in an office when I was younger too and it made me realize that I did not like office work and answering phones at all!!! LOL

I don’t think I knew stress back then. It all just rolled off, you know? But it definitely didn’t highlight a future career for me. Though, I did, eventually, work in marketing there a bit. And I was asked to answer phones there, as needed, through grad school.

So what you’re saying is that I shouldn’t let me daughter take my phone calls? LOL

says:
yeah. Pretty much. Thank goodness for caller id, voicemail and cell phones. Receptionist work must be extremely different now!

You look awesome. When I was that age I worked in my parent’s law office. I remember I had to do all the filing, and answering phones too. A couple times my senior year in high school, my mom told me not to go to school because the secretary was sick, and she needed me to answer the phones. Oh the glamorous lives we lead right?

OMG you must have been good at it, Candice!

All of my first days on the job in a real place (as opposed to on my computer) were soooo overwhelming, I can’t believe I ever showed up again. I’m trying to imagine what I would have done in your shoes– unplugged the phone, probably!

says:
I probably couldn’t figure out how to unplug the phone!

So… the blinking light means someone is on hold?
Too funny.

haha! Yes. Apparently, it does. but only really fast. slower fast means it’s another dreaded call…
I love that frame your video froze on.
OMG you and I are totally so alike! Instead of admitting I couldn’t do something I would “fib” a little too and pray it just ended! And one of my many jobs was a secretary at a Real Estate office. Only thing is I worked for agents NOT related to me. They aren’t nearly as nice. And twice as picky. Good times though

I also find little similarities between us, Annie.
And, yeah. Agents can be SO mean and pushy. And demanding. I think everyone assumed I’d get my license and start selling someday, but I’ve always said I don’t fit that “type.”
