#BestMoments: Conversations with coaches

best moments

I'm a pretty proud parent; I try not to over share it here on Just Precious, but my kids are pretty fantastic. They do amazing things, as all kids do, every day as they learn and grow. There are plenty of moments that could be considered "best moments." But there's something about a conversation with a coach that eaves a parent glowing... that becomes a best-recognized moment. About a year ago, Middle asked to try karate. We enrolled him in a class and Middle took his time adapting. The … [Read more...]

#VlogMom: No Child Left Behind should fail, for good reason

This week, I tasked the ladies of #VlogMom to think political, or at least a tiny bit controversial. I asked them to identify something they're passionate about and discuss it on their blog. I've seen a few of the vlogs so far and I'm so excited and so impressed with everyone's passion. And so very proud of the ladies who stepped outside their comfort zone to share their inner feelings. School shootings, lock downs, safety and our changing world

Sending your child to school is a scary thing. That's something I, as a parent and a teacher, wish wasn't true.  Just last year, when people asked me what I thought of our new school I'd reply, "He's safe and comfortable. What more can I ask for?" Last week, after the terrible shooting at Chardon High School, I re-assessed my viewpoint. I wished for simpler times. And, so, I researched. Expecting to find that school shootings started only in the 1980s or 90s, because times are said to be … [Read more...]
