Aprons, yes! Aprons: Mom Chic

Okay. Look. I never rarely wear aprons. Like, once in a blue moon will I actually have one on. But I can certainly list several times a week that I'm cooking when I spill jelly on the floor or splatter oil from a pan or poof flour through the air that I think "Ugh! Why didn't I take the extra 30 seconds to take an apron out of the back of the cabinet and cover my clothes?!" Why? Well. Because I don't have any chic aprons. So. In honor of Cooking Week on Just Precious, I went "shopping" for … [Read more...]

Menu Plan

This week, I'll be posting mostly recipes. There may be a post or two interspersed about going back to school, or the heat, or Blogher... or whatever, but definitely plan to read lots and lots of recipes. It's cooking week! I was asked by The Motherhood to join a team of Philadelphia-area bloggers to create a holiday meal using Lawry's spices and seasonings. The majority of these recipes are part of that project, so you'll notice that a lot of the recipes use the seasonings. It was so fun to … [Read more...]

Week 4 of 5 weeks of bloggers' favorite meals

Camp starts this week, so I'm singing and celebrating. I was worried that this week's meal plan would be hard to keep up with all the changes and places to be. But as I look at my calendar, I realized what I probably should have realized before: scheduling works for me. With a set schedule for every day, we should be able to eat on time and at home. Let's hope. This week is week 4 of 5 weeks of bloggers' favorite dinners. I'll be calling for another set of favorites in a week or two, so keep … [Read more...]

Menu Plan, Week 3 of 5 weeks of bloggers' favorites

Little secret, I was out of town last week! And while I planned to make a meal or two from the menu plan schedule, well... I barely cooked. Truly. A vacation. I did have time to make Andrea's Texican Chicken, finally, and Blissfully Domestic's BBQed ribs and Spaghetti Squash. The kids were a little overwhelmed with the barbeque ribs. They were messy and something too new and different, perhaps, when it came to eating off the bone and the texture. But my husband was delighted. I'd never made … [Read more...]

Tarragon chicken salad and the weekly menu plan

I could probably write an entire cookbook of chicken salad recipes. I just love mixing flavors. Last week's chicken salad ended up like nothing in the cookbook, because I kind of took it and went with it. And that was a good thing -- everyone loved it. I served it wrapped up in tortillas with green lettuce, more snow peas on the side. Tarragon Chicken Salad Ingredients: 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken 1/2 English cucumber (the really long ones) handful of snow peas Creamy Tarragon … [Read more...]
