Bump Month: Prepare your home for baby on the Zulily blog

I guest posted about preparing your home for a first baby on Zulily's blog today. Share your thoughts... what are your must-have products? I was lucky. When I was pregnant with my first, I worked part time at Pottery Barn Kids. I had a tremendously helpful employee discount. And I knew everything about readying your house for baby. When couples came to me to register, I'd advise them: register for everything. Everything. When else will you get a chance to ask for exactly what you want? I'd … [Read more...]

Menu Plan for those not celebrating Passover

So, tonight begins Passover, and yesterday ended our trip to NOLA, a family wedding and Mom 2.0... which means lots of blogging to catch up on. I figure many of my readers are celebrating Passover and kinda, sorta have their meals planned out already. And since we're celebrating the holiday, I kinda, sorta have my meals planned (not really... but who can think beyond the second day when the rest of the week will be nothing but leftovers, right?) So, I'm resurrecting an old Menu Plan for the … [Read more...]

Share first birthday milestones and enter to win with Tide and BabyCenter

Not everyone does birthday parties, I get that. And not everyone does big 1st birthday parties. I've always felt that the first birthday party is as much for the adults as it is for the kids. More really. I mean, Little won't remember her first birthday party. So if we invited her "friends" or had a costumed Dora show up... that wasn't super important to us. We look at her first birthday party to celebrate everyone who has helped us during the year. Everyone who stood by us. It was our excuse to … [Read more...]

Menu Plan: Busy busy week ahead

This week is the start of several busy weeks, including spring break, and, of course, baseball season. Its time to rely on old favorites, take advantage of leftovers and sneak in a few fast pizza or sandwich dinners. Its also grilling season (yay!) which is always easy and fast. Monday: leftovers or turkey sandwiches... its a bit odd for me to start off the week with leftovers, but I have some from the weekend so we'll be chowing on those in between karate, a school event and a meeting Tuesday: … [Read more...]

Menu Plan: Totally unprepared

Its 12:33 am, Monday morning. I'm up. Preparing my calendar for the week, behind in my posts, and totally unprepared for what lies ahead the next several weeks. The weekend was delightful, but I spent most of it either exhausted in front of the TV or running around with the kids. And then there was the last minute cancellation of a sitter, cancelling our night out with friends. Did I say delightful? That may  have been overdoing it. So, I just prepared the calendar and made my meal plan. As I … [Read more...]

PAPER! How can we manage our mail?

Dear Julie: I've been enjoying reading your posts about getting organized and menu-planning....I'm not sure if you take "requests" at all, but I'd love to hear if you have a system for organizing PAPER! that is what is over-running me here at home...piles of mail, bills, projects from school...what to save, what to trash...whenever i feel like I've gone through my pile, there is a new stack of mail, magazines, catalogs, school art projects, returned homework assignments, announcements from … [Read more...]
