Image by skampy via Flickr Recently, I learned just how intense back to school is for moms. Its not just a transition for the student, its also one for the parents. We adjust to new schedules. We meet teachers and make friends and lunches and breakfasts. We're running from soccer to scouts to swim lessons and shuffling homework and family time and playdates. You know what's usually forgotten? The mom. The MOM. The mom who makes lunch and breakfast and drives the carpool and prepares snack for … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday: Being Mom Chic
Cardigans by Magaschoni Platforms by L.A.M.B. The days I look Mom Chic I find I'm more motivated, I get more done. Every time I wear a skirt, a snazzy top or a put-together look, people double-take. They ask where I'm going, what the occasion may be, if I have an important meeting. Usually, I do. Sometimes, though. Sometimes, I'm dressed for me. And I'm dressed for my kids. Do they not trust the teachers enough to bring their own experience to the classroom and to let it lead them in how they'll approach their … [Read more...]

Image via Wikipedia Life was so cool, so easy pre-kids. And we were cool, weren't we? We took life in stride, let things happen, enjoyed late nights with friends rather than late nights with vomit. But being a parent has made me better person, and one who enjoys my life. Here's why: I'm responsible. I no longer live day by day and minute by minute. I recognize that other's rely on me. And that makes me more responible to myself, those around me and my surroundings. I'm more flexible. Sure, … [Read more...]
